Precautions for Replacing Auger Flights of Screw Conveyor

Source: GongYi HengYuan Industry Co.,Ltd   Time: 2025-01-15

Screw conveyor is a common equipment for conveying materials. Its main component is auger flight. The auger flight continuously conveys materials during operation and generates friction with the materials. As time goes by, the auger flight will become thinner and thinner, and in serious cases, it will be missing, which will affact the conveying effect.
When the auger flight is worn or missing, it is necessary to consider replacing it with a new one. When replacing, it should be based on the original auger flight style. Some are welded single-piece auger flights, and some are spot-welded continuous auger flights on the pipe. When there is a missing section in the middle, if a continuous auger flight is used, firstly use gas cutting to completely cut off the missing part, and extend a part at both ends for easy welding; mesaure the length of this section, and then cut the same length on the corresponding continuous auger flight, and then cut it into a single pitch length, insert it into the pipe one by one and weld it together. If a single auger flight is worn, it is also neccessary to cut off the worn part first, polish the surface of the pipe, and then weld the prepared single flight on the pipe, and closely dock it with the remaining good part.
The outer diameter of the repaied auger flight should be consistent with the original auger flight. If it is uneven, the outer circle should be polished with a polishing machine to make the outer diameter consistent, so that there will be no scraping phenomenon and the conveying will be smoother. For auger flights with large diameters, the junction of the two auger flights should be beveled and then welded, so that the connection will be more secure and will not be loose.
